Press release -
London Northwestern Railway advises passengers to check journeys ahead of festive period
Passengers travelling with London Northwestern Railway (LNR) are being reminded to check journey planners before travelling this festive period.
Due to Christmas markets and engineering works, services are expected to be busier than usual across the railway network.
Service changes for London Northwestern Railway include:
- An amended timetable will run between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
- There will be an earlier shutdown of services on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
- No services will run on any LNR route on Christmas Day or Boxing Day
- Rail replacement services will operate on some routes over the course of the festive period, including between Stafford and Crewe, Crewe and Liverpool and Milton Keynes Central and Northampton
- Rail replacement buses serving Crewe on Friday 27th December will arrive and depart from Crewe Alexandra Football Club car park on Gresty Road
- Services are expected to be busier than usual between Saturday 21st and Sunday 29th December as the Midland Main Line will be closed for upgrades, resulting in additional passengers using the West Coast Main Line
Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director for London Northwestern Railway, said: “Services to and from London Euston are expected to be very busy, so customers travelling over the festive period are encouraged to travel before Christmas Eve and after 2nd January where possible.
“Due to engineering works, rail replacement services are in place on some days for certain routes, so I’d recommend checking journey planners before setting out and ensuring you leave plenty of time to travel.”
