London Northwestern Railway: Passengers advised to check journeys ahead of Christmas period

Passengers travelling with London Northwestern Railway (LNR) are being reminded to check their journeys before they travel over the festive period.

Due to Christmas markets and engineering works, services are expected to be busy and disruption is expected on some dates before the end of the year.

Service changes include:

  • An amended timetable will be in operation between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
  • There will be an earlier shutdown of services on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
  • No services will run on any LNR route on Christmas Day or Boxing Day
  • Due to essential maintenance, buses will replace trains on some routes out of Birmingham New Street on New Year’s Day
  • Services in and out of London Euston are expected to be busier than usual on New Year’s Eve
  • No services will run on the Marston Vale Line between Bedford and Bletchley on New Year’s Day

Football fans attending the Premier League Wolves-Chelsea football fixture at Molineux on Christmas Eve are advised to allow time for their journeys to and from the match and check their journeys on the day in case of any changes.

Jonny Wiseman, LNR customer experience director, said:

“We expect our services to be busier than usual across the Christmas period and I advise passengers to check their journeys before setting out.

“Trains may be subject to short-notice changes and I would also urge passengers not to rely on late services on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve as last trains will be earlier than usual.”
