Press release -
North end of Cross City Line reopens following overhead line damage
Passengers are being warned of continued disruption between Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley after overhead power cables were damaged on the northern section of the Cross City line.
Network Rail engineers have been on site making repairs to the 25,000-volt cables at Gravelly Hill, following its closure yesterday. A number of complications experienced through the night meant services remained affected this morning (Friday 10 September) but trains have now begun running again.
Services on the Cross City line south between Birmingham New Street, Bromsgrove and Redditch are unaffected.
Anyone planning to travel between Birmingham and Lichfield Trent Valley today (Friday 10 September) is advised to check www.nationalrail.co.uk or www.westmidlandsrailway.co.ukfor the latest information.
West Midlands Railway would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused and thanks them for their continued patience.
