Rail industry thanks passengers for adapting travel plans during strike week

Passengers in the West Midlands have been thanked for their patience and understanding following last week’s industrial action on the railway.

Normal timetables have now resumed following three days of industrial action when a limited train service was in operation. Last trains ran much earlier than usual on strike days and passengers were urged to only travel if necessary with the limited timetable in operation.

Thanks to the co-operation of passengers who adapted their travel plans, operators across the region were able to run reliable and effective reduced timetables.

Alex Warner, chair of the Grand Railway Collaboration, representing West Midlands train operators and Network Rail, said:

“I would like to thank passengers across the network for their patience and understanding during a challenging week for everybody on the railway.

“Normal timetables have now resumed across the network and our operators are looking forward to welcoming passengers back on board.”
