Railway lovers in Worcestershire invited to find out more about Community Rail Partnership

Rail lovers in Worcestershire are being invited to find out more about the work of the county's Community Rail Partnership (CRP) next week.

The partnership, which works to connect railway stations with their local communities, is holding a drop-in session at the Worcester Guildhall from 10.30am - 2.30pm on Friday 23 July.

Visitors can learn more about the work of the CRP, enter a competition to name some of the railway lines which run through the county and view a new promotional video championing local rail travel.

Peter Chapman, from Worcestershire CRP, said: "There is so much going on at our stations, from family activities to community work which is making a real difference to young people in Worcestershire.

"With Covid-19 restrictions beginning to ease we are also looking closely at the role the railway can play in encouraging more people back onto the network, as well as encouraging people to adopt local stations.

"We look forward to seeing as many people as possible at the Guildhall next week."

Eighteen beautifully-stitched train tapestries will also be on display at the event.

Fay Easton, from West Midlands Railway, said: "Communities are at the heart of everything we do as a local rail operator and I would encourage anybody with an interest in the railway to find out more.

"Across our network volunteers donate thousands of hours of time every year to making our stations bright and welcoming places to be. CRPs play a big part in bringing people togetherĀ and this promises to be a great event."
