Dragons, knights, princesses and their families are invited to a special St George’s Day celebration at Stone Railway station. Writer and storyteller, Dave Tong, will be telling mesmerising tales of heroes gone by, with an interactive performance at the station’s community Centre on Tuesday 23 April.
The Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, has been praising community rail projects on the Abbey Line. The Mayor made a special visit to Garston station yesterday (21 March), to meet with local station adopters, volunteers and the Abbey Line Community Rail Partnership (CRP), to find out more about the support given to the work of volunteers along the route.
The countdown is on to nominate heroic groups from across the West Midlands to receive recognition at local Cross City line stations. With less than two weeks left for entries into the Cross City Heroes competition (nominations open until 31 March) – West Midlands Railway is calling for even more communities to highlight groups who have made a real difference in their area.
A special display at Wellington station will be sharing a message of love with rail passengers this Valentine’s day. The local Women’s Institute (WI) are working with The Climate Coalition for their annual 'Show the Love' project. This year’s initiative will be based on the platforms at Wellington station from Monday (11 Feb) onwards.
Special artwork has been unveiled at Stone station, to celebrate 170 years of train services to and from the town. Students from Abbey Hill School in Longton have produced a set of paintings, which depict the station then and now. 11 of these pictures are now displayed around the waiting shelter on platform one.
Local children have come together with community volunteers and railway staff, to fill new planters outside Milton Keynes station. Great Linford Scouts were joined by Milton Keynes Model Railway Society and London Northwestern Railway staff on Saturday (26 January), to put the display together outside the main station entrance.
Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, has been praising the work of railway station volunteers across the region. He recently met with a group of local station adopters at Stechford, to learn about their work and encourage more groups to get involved in their local area.
Passengers travelling through Kenilworth station can enjoy some poetry in the station’s community cafe over the next three weeks. Matt Black, who is from nearby Leamington Spa, will be visiting the station at various times to entertain customers. He will be performing until the start of Kenilworth Arts Festival on Thursday 20 September.
