The outside of the station has been totally transformed with a new entrance, glazed roof and cladding, while inside a new larger concourse, ticket office and accessible toilet have been built.

Local library supporters in Sutton Coldfield have been celebrating their recognition as Cross City Heroes. FOLIO Sutton Coldfield has been recognised as part of the West Midlands Railway ‘Cross City Heroes’ initiative, which celebrates contributions to communities along the popular rail line.
Over £740,000 is being spent on improving cycle facilities at London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway stations across the network. The Department for Transport has awarded the train operators £371,000 of funding through their Cycle Rail programme, representing around 6% of the total awarded nationally. This is being match funded to help deliver an extensive improvement programme.
