Passengers encouraged to make small talk and help save lives on the railway

Rail passengers are being encouraged to look out for those around them, in the latest Samaritan’s campaign to reduce suicide on the railway. Small Talk Saves Lives is a joint partnership between Network Rail, Samaritans, the British Transport Police and the wider rail industry, including train operators.

Open Day at Kidderminster reveals how the new station will look.

As part of an open day being held at Kidderminster Station today (Tuesday 6 November), a new artist's impression on how the station will look as been revealed by Worcestershire County Council and partners. The new image shows the improved forecourt and Comberton Hill layouts and also shows how the new glazed, station building will look once completed.

£1.7 million station refurbishment begins at Longbridge

Rail passengers at Longbridge are being advised to allow more time and plan ahead, as work begins on the £1.7 million refurbishment programme at the station. Passengers will benefit from upgraded facilities, which are being delivered by Network Rail and funded by Birmingham City Council.

Birmingham Snow Hill will be one of three West Midland Railway stations that will have staffed gatelines all day from 31 October.

West Midlands Railway has announced it will be staffing some of its automatic station gatelines from first to last train each day from 31 October. The train operator says this is part of a drive to improve customer service, provide additional reassurance to passengers and reduce tickles travel on the rail network.

London Northwestern Railway has announced it will be staffing some of its automatic station gatelines from first to last train each day from 31 October. The train operator says this is part of a drive to improve customer service, provide additional reassurance to passengers and reduce ticketless travel on the rail network.

Bike marking will be one of a number of initiatives being showcased at Birmingham Snow Hill during the security roadshows on 2 & 3 October.

Commuters at Birmingham Snow Hill are being encouraged to consider safety and security on railway this week, as an interactive roadshow heads to the station. London Northwestern Railway’s revenue and security team will be joining colleagues from the British Transport Police, Network Rail and others for the event, which is taking place on the station concourse.

Great Malvern to become the home of innovation during annual technology festival

Great Malvern station will become ‘The Innovation Station’ next week, as part of this year’s Malvern Festival of Innovation. West Midlands Railway is an official travel partner for this year’s celebration, with visitors encouraged to use regular ‘innovation shuttles’ to and from the event.

The Giants, created by world-famous street theatre company Royal de Luxe, will be visiting Liverpool and Wirral for the final time from 4 - 7 October

Additional carriages for Liverpool-bound trains this weekend

There will be additional carriages on many London Northwestern Railway services to and from Liverpool this weekend, as Giants parade through the city for the third and final time. From Thursday 4 until Sunday 7 October, the world-famous street theatre company Royal de Luxe , from Nantes, will visit both Liverpool and Wirral.
