West Midlands Railway: Amended timetable introduced on Snow Hill Lines

Passengers using West Midlands Railway services via Birmingham Snow Hill are being urged to check their journeys before an amended timetable comes into effect next week.

The new timetable is being introduced due to a temporary shortage of available carriages caused by challenges in the industry supply chain. Trains require regular maintenance and shortages of essential parts are currently impacting the availability of WMR’s fleet that operates services through Birmingham Snow Hill.

John Doughty, WMR engineering director, said: “I am very sorry to any customers who have been impacted by services running with fewer carriages than usual in recent weeks.

“This has been due to circumstances outside of our control as we have been, and continue to be, suffering from delays to the supply of overhauled components supplied by the vehicle owner that are critical for the operation of the trains.

“We are working hard with the supply chain to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. To provide passengers with more certainty over the length of their train, we are introducing an amended timetable from Monday, with further changes to follow.

“I urge passengers using services via Birmingham Snow Hill to check their journeys before travelling and plan ahead while we work to restore the full timetable as quickly as possible.”

Under the amended timetable, from Monday 31 March some peak time services between Birmingham and Leamington Spa, Worcester and Hereford will not run. Further timetable amendments will come into effect later in the spring, with details to be confirmed in due course.

The timetable amendments are expected to remain in place until the summer. Regular updates will be posted on the WMR website to keep passengers up to date.
