West Midlands Railway confirms reduced timetable ahead of industrial action
West Midlands Railway (WMR) is urging passengers to plan their travel in advance ahead of two days of strike action due to take place next week.
On Friday 31 July and Saturday 1 August a reduced service will be in operation on the WMR network due to strike action by members of the TSSA trade union.
On Friday a limited timetable will be in operation and some routes will have no service. No trains will run after 7pm with the final WMR services of the day departing by 5.30pm.
On Saturday a limited timetable will be in operation and some routes will have no service. Trains will start later than usual, with the first WMR services of the day starting from 7am.
Jonny Wiseman, WMR customer experience director, said:
“It is disappointing that TSSA has called further strike action which is set to disrupt travel for our customers. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and urge TSSA to continue talks so we can reach a resolution to this dispute.
“If the strike action does go ahead, we will be running a reduced timetable on both dates. Customers are advised to check before they travel by visiting journey planners and our website.”
Routes with a limited service on Friday 31 July and Saturday 1 August are:
- Cross City Line (Lichfield Trent Valley – Redditch / Bromsgrove via Birmingham New Street) – 4 trains per hour
- Wolverhampton – Walsall via Birmingham New Street – 2 trains per hour
- Rugeley Trent Valley – Birmingham International via Birmingham New Street – 2 trains per hour
Train times will be available in Journey Planners ahead of the strike days.
No trains will run on any other WMR route, including:
- All routes via Birmingham Snow Hill
- Camp Hill Line
- Nuneaton - Leamington Spa
- Birmingham New Street - Hereford
- Birmingham New Street - Shrewsbury
Some disruption to services is expected on the morning of Sunday 2 August due to displacement of trains.
Any customer who holds a WMR ticket dated for 31 July or 1 August can use it on Wednesday 29 July, Thursday 30 July, Sunday 2 August or Monday 3 August instead.
