Press release -

West Midlands Railway launches new ‘Festive Fiver’ return ticket

West Midlands Railway (WMR) launched a new ‘Festive Fiver’ ticket option today (Thursday 6 November) for return journeys after 4pm.

Coventry locals can buy the £5 return ticket for post-4pm journeys between any two stations within railway zones 1-5. The zonal map has Birmingham at its centre and extends out as far as Wolverhampton and Stourbridge, with the full map available to view online.

The new ticket option is available until 23 December, making it easy to enjoy everything the West Midlands has to offer this festive season, from Christmas markets and late-night shopping to post-work drinks and catching up with family and friends.

Under 17s can secure even more savings, with 16-17 Saver Railcard holders and children aged 5 - 15 getting a further 50% off their fare.

Jonny Wiseman, WMR customer experience director, said: “Christmas is fast approaching, and we want to make sure our customers across the West Midlands can enjoy all the fantastic festive events happening in the region. With this ticket, passengers know they won’t be paying more than £5 when travelling within zones 1 – 5 after 4pm, making it simple to plan your evenings out.

“I also want to remind passengers that trains are expected to be busier than usual over the festive period, so please make sure to check your journey before you travel and be kind to staff and your fellow passengers.”
