West Midlands Railway: Passengers urged to check journeys ahead of timetable change

West Midlands Railway is urging passengers to check their journeys ahead of a significant timetable change coming into effect later this month.

From Sunday 11 December departure times and frequencies on some routes will change as part of a national twice-yearly timetable change.

Jonny Wiseman, WMR customer experience director, said: “These changes have been carefully planned to provide a more reliable, robust timetable for our customers.

“On some routes the new timetable will mean departure times have changed significantly so I am urging our customers to check their journeys carefully to avoid being left behind.”

Among the changes are:

  • Significant retiming on routes including Birmingham-Shrewsbury, Walsall-Wolverhampton (via Birmingham) and Nuneaton-Leamington to provide a more robust service
  • The introduction of a new half-hourly service between Birmingham New Street-Northampton-London Euston (operated by WMR’s sister company London Northwestern Railway)
  • A new ‘clock-face’ timetable with departures from Birmingham New Street to Walsall and Tame Bridge Parkway every 15 minutes
  • Increased connections between Rugeley Trent Valley and Birmingham International

Full details of the timetable changes are available at www.wmr.uk/december

Passengers are also being reminded that industrial action is expected to disrupt services in the first week following the timetable change (w/c Dec 12). See www.wmr.uk/industrialaction for details.
