    Local Samba performers have been celebrating their recognition as local community heroes. North Worcestershire based Someone at the Door Samba Band (SATD) have been showing off their Cross City Heroes plaque, as they celebrate their award for contributions to the local area.

At a special ceremony, attended by Scout Group leaders, members, the local commissioner and Chairman of Friends of Cotteridge Park, the group celebrated being nominated as a group to have made a significant impact in the local area.

  • Friends 2 Friends mark Cross City Heroes win at Lichfield Trent Valley

    Members of a Lichfield community group for adults with learning disabilities joined the celebrations as a permanent plaque marking their achievements was unveiled at Lichfield Trent Valley railway station. The Friends 2 Friends group were recognised through the West Midlands Railway ‘Cross City Heroes’ initiative, which celebrates contributions to communities along the popular rail line.

  • West Midlands Railway supports successful Clean Air Day event hosted by Colmore BID

    ​West Midlands Railway joined other local transport providers, politicians, health advisers and members of the public in Birmingham city centre yesterday (Thursday 20 June) for Clean Air Day 2019. Clean Air Day is an annual event, which is part of a UK wide campaign to tackle air pollution, by encouraging people and society as a whole to adopt more environmentally friendly behaviour.

Staff at the train operators were issued with new uniforms earlier this year, following months of consultation to put together the final design.

  • New waiting room opened to help those with hidden disabilities at Crewe station

    Passengers at Crewe station now have access to a new waiting room, specifically designed to offer those with hidden disabilities a safe and calm environment. The Calm Corner is the first of its kind on the rail network, brought to life through the work of train operators at the station, Network Rail and advice from a number of partner charities.

    West Midlands Railway is offering an exclusive treat for dads this weekend, with free train travel on Father’s Day (Sunday 16 June). Special ‘Dads Go Free’ tickets will be available to purchase from railway station ticket offices in advance or on the day, when dads travel by train with their children.

    ​West Midlands Railway will be putting on additional train services this Sunday (9 June) for visitors to the annual Cosford Air Show. It comes just weeks after the train operator introduced hourly Sunday train services on the route between Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

  • Rail passengers reminded of zero tolerance approach to staff abuse

    Rail passengers are being reminded that there is a zero tolerance approach taken towards the abuse of staff on the rail network. It comes following an incident at Four Oaks station last week (15 May), which resulted in a Birmingham woman receiving a four month prison sentence for assaulting both railway staff and an off duty West Midlands Police officer.
