Ledbury station renamed for annual poetry festival

Passengers passing through Ledbury station over the next week will be visiting the official ‘Ledbury Junction for Poetry’. The railway station has been renamed in honour of the town’s week-long poetry festival which starts today.

Bournville Scouts unveil railway station plaque

Members of 1st Bournville Scout Group have unveiled their Cross City Heroes plaque at Bournville railway station. At a special ceremony, attended by Scout Group leaders, members, the local commissioner and Chairman of Friends of Cotteridge Park, the group celebrated being nominated as a group to have made a significant impact in the local area.

Members of a Lichfield community group for adults with learning disabilities joined the celebrations as a permanent plaque marking their achievements was unveiled at Lichfield Trent Valley railway station. The Friends 2 Friends group were recognised through the West Midlands Railway ‘Cross City Heroes’ initiative, which celebrates contributions to communities along the popular rail line.

Scouts Bromsgrove celebrate Cross City Heroes win

Members of Scouts Bromsgrove have been celebrating their Cross City Heroes win. Children from the group took a trip on the Cross City Line over the weekend (Sat 9 June) to take a look at their plaque, ahead of it’s permanent display at Barnt Green station this summer.

A boost for Community Rail in the Heart of England

West Midlands Railway is playing a key role in an exciting new partnership to support and promote community engagement at railway stations across the Heart of England. The train operator has joined with ten other organisations to form the ‘Heart of England Community Rail Partnership’ (CRP).

Astwood Bank Scouts celebrate Cross City Heroes win at Redditch station

Members of 1st Astwood Bank Scout Group have been celebrating their Cross City Heroes win at Redditch railway station. The group has been chosen as one of 24 community organisations to receive a plaque of recognition at local railway stations on the popular Cross City Line between Redditch / Bromsgrove, Birmingham and Lichfield.

Jewellery Quarter BID becomes the first Business Improvement District in the UK to adopt a station

A new community group led by the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID) aims to bring a new lease of life to the Jewellery Quarter Station. Through a range of projects and activities and with support from West Midlands Railway, the group has set out to improve the attractiveness of the station, making it a more welcoming and friendly place for visitors, residents and workers.

Cross City Heroes to receive railway station recognition

​Heroic groups from across the West Midlands will be receiving special recognition at local Cross City line stations this summer. 24 local community groups and charities have been given the title of Cross City Heroes, following a competition run by West Midlands Railway and West Midlands Rail Executive.

New group on track to spruce up Stourbridge stations

A new community group has been formed to bring a new lease of life to Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town railway stations – and it’s looking for new members. Friends of Stourbridge Stations (FOSS) will be looking to spruce up the two railway stations, by creating colourful new floral displays and running community activities throughout the year.
